Who saw my father - Ethiopian poetry by the son of Eng. Simegnew


Ethiopian verse by the child of Engineer Simegnew Bekele. Simegnew was brought into the world in 1964 in the unassuming community of Maksegnit situated in Begmeder Province. He finished a course at the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) specialized instructional hub in 1986. He educated at the organization for some time in the wake of graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering from Addis Ababa University in 1997. He filled in as appointee project administrator for the Gilgel Gibe I and the undertaking supervisor for the Gilgel Gibe II dams. In 2011 he was assigned undertaking administrator for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), since the beginning of its development 2011. In 2015 the Tigrai Online e-magazine named him as its individual of the year.

On the morning of 26 July 2018, Simegnew was discovered shot dead in his Toyota Land Cruiser on Addis Ababa Meskel Square by a nonmilitary personnel going through the vehicle. Talking at a question and answer session, Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner Zeinu Jemal said that he had been found with a Colt firearm in his right hand and a shot injury behind his right ear, notwithstanding, unfairness has been suspected. Simegnew had been booked to give a public interview on the advancement of the dam soon thereafter, following remarks by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that development could require up to ten additional years, definitely more than past projections. He was the public essence of the dam being worked close to the country's western line with Sudan that, when finished, would be Africa's biggest.
